Preventive Medicine

The medicine of the 21st Century will map out an individual's genetic uniqueness (genotype) and then give guidance around the types of interventions which would most benefit the individual's genetic expression (phenotype). Diet and nutrition, including specific vitamin, mineral and nutriceutical agents will be a foundational part of such a program. Specific and timely diagnostic testing for the early detection of disease potential in the individual will be another important part. Individual therapy for specific disease will complete this preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic triad. Although this is not available today in its totality, we have available to us what might be considered a preventive maintenance menu which spans the preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic fields. Our goal as health practitioners is to individualize such a program for your specific situation and help you realize your potential for a healthy life in all spheres.

Initial Consultation
This series of consultations formulates your individual needs. Diagnositic Laboratory Testing will be arranged according to your personal health history and family history. Only a portion of these consultations and laboratory tests are covered by the Provincial Health Plan (OHIP). Some of the tests that might be considered, and a short explanatory note, follows. Please note that for any one person only a few of these tests will be advised. The cost of these tests are not OHIP covered. The laboratory testing is done by accredited Canadian and American labs. Costs are in Canadian dollars. (The cost might differ due to fluctuations in the exchange rate and rates for airborne overnight express delivery.)

Cardiovascular Risk Panel-1
This is done at OHIP covered laboratories, but includes non-OHIP covered tests. The lab fee will be charged to you directly by the laboratory. This includes the traditional risk factors of cholesterol (HDL/LDL) and triglycerides as well as lesser known risk factors such as Lipoprotein (a),high sensitivity C Reactive Protein, Homocysteine, Bioavailable Testosterone

Vitamin And Mineral Panel -1
This is done at OHIP covered laboratories and the non OHIP covered tests will be charged directly by the laboratory. Includes levels of Vitamin B12, Thiamine, Folic Acid, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin D, Magnesium, Calcium, Phosphorous, Zinc, Ferritin

Hair Analysis
This is a screening test for detection of elevated levels of toxic metals such as Aluminum, Arsenic, Cadmium, Lead, Mercury, as well as an experimental screening test for nutritional minerals ..........$75.00
